Tinubu signs bill to return to old national anthem into law

President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday.
The bill seeks to return to the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
A final assent to the passage of the bill will bring about a shift from the now-recognised, “Arise O Compatriots.”
The bill was quickly cleared by both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio announced this on Wednesday during a joint session of the National Assembly.
He also announced that the president will not address the House but only flag off the new anthem.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said the president cancelled the address because June 12 is the official Democracy Day.
