Arsenal player, Aubameyang begs Alex Iwobi to give him a Super Eagles jersey
Arsenal player, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has joined the list of foreigners who find the Super Eagles jerseys stunning. Taking to Twitter, he expressed his admiration for the jerseys which have been named the best for the Russia 2018 world cup.
The Super Eagles Jerseys and kits were launched on the 1st of June and sold out hours after. Nike which designed the kit stated that they have no plans of restocking the kits which are currently worn by foreigners with pride. This has prompted some Nigerians to make replicas which are fast selling.
Few days ago, one of those selling the fake jerseys in Nigeria was interviewed by BBC. He spoke of the gains he was making. The counterfeit can be gotten for as low as N4,000 compared to the original that goes for N40, 000. Many Nigerians, even those who can afford the original at its expensive price, have resorted to wearing the fake which really doesn’t look much different from the original. This is due to the delay Nike took in launching the sale and also not launching in Nigeria.
The Nigerian team is placed in group D alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland. Their first game will be against Croatia on the 16th of June. Before then, the team will play a friendly against Czech Republic in Australia where they are camped.
