'Lagos is no longer the centre of excellence' - Uche Maduagwu laments following electoral violence in Lagos State

The 2023 gubernatorial election is one that will continue to linger in the hearts of Lagos residents following a series of violence reported across the state.

Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has reacted to the violence that took place earlier in the day in Lagos State which caused a lot of people to be disenfranchised.

According to reports and videos making rounds on social media, political thugs invaded different parts of the state to intimidate and stop people from voting. While in some parts of the state thugs allegedly stopped the Ndi Igbo from voting, in other parts, people were stopped no matter the tribe so long they are not voting the All Progressive Party candidate and incumbent governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Taking to his Instagram page Maduagwu said the elections have revealed to everyone that Lagos State no longer portrays its slogan ‘Centre of Excellency’ but rather a home for thuggery.

Revealing that his emotions took the larger part of him, Maduagwu said he wept as thugs attacked voters as he has never witnessed anything like it in over thirty years of living in the state.

He wrote: “This 2023 governorship election has shown the world that Lagos is no longer the centre of excellency but now centre of thuggery. I wept bitterly after seeing how thugs chassed and fight innocent voters in broad day light, in my 30 years of living in Lagos, I have never seen this ugly incident. Shame on APC government.

Actor, Denola Grey reacts to electoral violence in Lagos State

Kemi Filani reported that Nollywood actor, Denola Grey reacted to the electoral violence that happened in Lagos State.

According to the Fashion Icon, he would no longer want to be friends with anyone who openly support the ruling party (APC).

Taking to his Twitter platform, Demola Grey wrote: “It’s only someone/people that know they don’t deserve to win something that will lie, steal, cheat and be violent to get it. If your house is clean, you put your best foot forward and hope that the outcome is beneficial to the people you claim to care about. simple. All this because of greed? Because you want to steal and “chop” money that doesn’t belong to you? Curses are too calm. Hell is too cold. Honestly if you support APC you’re complicit. I do not respect you. I don’t want you around me. There is no room for neutrality in this. This is blatant evil.”

Kate Henshaw calls out Rashidat Adu over intimidation

Kemi Filani reported also that actress, Kate Henshaw called out the Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area in Eti-Osa Local Government, Honorable Rashidat Abiodun Adu for allegedly sending out her people after her.

Taking to her Twitter page, Kate Henshaw who had stepped out to exercise her civic right as the country holds its gubernatorial election slammed Rashidat Adu after she visited her polling unit and reweld people against the actress. She noted that while some of Rahidat’s people chanted slogans, one of them threatened to slap her.

While noting that she can’t figure out what she did to the chairman, Kate Henshaw said Rashidat should be ashamed of herself for making such moves against her. She also said Rashidat knows nothing because Lagos State belongs to everyone.

Captioning the video she shared, Kate Henshaw wrote: “No one can intimidate me!! I have every right to carry out my duty No amount of abuse or vitriol will work.. You are a public servant!! I have taken note of all your thugs!!”
