Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has warned Neymar concerning his desire to return to Barcelona.
Neymar left Barcelona to Paris St Germain in the summer of 2017 and became the world’s most expensive footballer. However, since joining the French club, the Brazilian hasn’t been able to call the place home. He recently stated that he would love to return home where he never should have left.
Reacting to his desire to return to Barcelona, Pep Guardiola who once guided the Spanish club to two UEFA Champions League trophies said:
“Neymar’s an extraordinary player,” Guardiola told Are.
“But I don’t know [about his return].
“If he went back, would it be the same?”
“I don’t know if he’d be the same player, but you can’t doubt how good he is.”
Guardiola, who hasn’t won any UCL trophy since leaving Barcelona, despite managing Bayern Munich and Manchester City, also spoke about his desire to win one again.
“Of course I’d love the Champions League,” he said.
“But the league is what makes the players follow you.
“Every three days you have to win.
”Winning the league in England is very hard and the proof is that Manchester City are the first team in 11 years to defend the title.
“Barcelona have done that many times.”
