The deputy vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Bolaji Sule has accused Herdsmen of raising farms withinf rhe school premises and also threatening g staff and students with weapons.
According to Sule who spoke at a security summit in Kwara State, the University has met it’s commitment to the Herdsmen, however the issue of insecurity still persists as the Herdsmen were a threat to the hostels, farms, dam site and also staff of the school.
He also threatened that the university won’t hesitate to take legal action against trespassers.
A staff of the Agricultural faculty, Kameeludeen Azeez, expresses worry at what he called the “illegal activities of herdsmen” in the university.
“It is rather so pathetic that the university has spent so much money on relocating the herders, given them all they requested and we are still encountering this,” he said.
He added that security operatives have been briefed towards to curtailing “unruly herdsmen posed to the institution”.
Yunus Alade-Saliu, a representative of the Department of State Services (DSS), assured that the security of students and staff of the school is intact.
