Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK, has included his father in a list of Yoruba politicians who regretted aligning with the Fulanis whom he said betrayed them.
According to Femi Fani-Kayode, his late father Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, who aligned with Fulani leaders in the past paid dearly for it.
Others in his list include Afonja, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola and Chief Obafemi Awolowo during the Nigerian Civil War.
He also mentioned Chief MKO Abiola, Chief Bola Ige and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as recent Yoruba leaders who were betrayed by the Fulanis.
He issued out the list as a note of warning to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is currently rumored to be facing problems in his party which is believed to be largely influenced by the Fulanis.
Urging Tinubu to learn a lesson from the elders before him, Femi Fani-Kayode said:
“Every single notable leader from the SW that formed an alliance with the Fulani ended up regretting it and paying a price. From Afonja, to Akintola, to Fani-Kayode, to Awolowo (during the civil war) to Abiola, to Bola Ige and to Obasanjo. Can’t Tinubu learn from history?”
