Instagram has announced plans to test-run hiding Likes count on it’s social media app this week.
Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri who spoke during a keynote of F8 Facebook annual developers conference said, “ we want people to worry a little bit less about how many likes they’re getting on Instagram and spend a bit more time connecting with the people that they care about.”
The proposed new update will prevent users from seeing the amount of likes a post gets. They will however be able to see the likes their own posts get. The only way to see the likes posts of others get is by manually counting them.
A post’s creator will be able to see their own like counts if they choose to do so, Mosseri said.
“We don’t want Instagram to feel like a competition. What we aspire to do is lead the fight against online bullying,” Mosseri said.
