The Los Angeles City Council has reacted to a motion which expects it to rename the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue to “Nipsey Hussle Square.”
A motion will be submitted on Friday by Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson to change the name of the South L.A. intersection in honour of the slain rapper.
Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson tweeted: “This week, I will officially submit a motion to name the intersection of #Crenshaw and #Slauson as “Nipsey Hussle Square”.
Nipsey Hussle was shot two weeks ago in Los Angeles by Eric Holder who is now facing charges in Court.
Real name Ermias Asghedom, before his death had a song called “Crenshaw and Slauson (True Story)”.
Fans of the rapper tarted a Change.org petition to urge the city council to submit the motion. The petition has so far nearly reached its goal of 500,000 signatures, and got the councilman’s attention.
