Cambodian authorities have arrested a 37-year-old Nigerian man, Shehu Bello Akharuku and his Cambodian wife, Kim Sreykouch, 24.
The couple were last week and detained in Prey Sar prison, Cambodia on fraud charges. Their arrest were allegedly ordered at the request of US Embassy staff.
Information from the Phnom Penh Court, on the morning of April 3, states that a complaint from the US Embassy in Cambodia, led the Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime Department of the Ministry of Interior, to deliver the Nigerian man and his Cambodian wife to appear before the court.
The Phnom Penh court judge, Koy Chao, issued a detention order for the two suspects who are now held at Prey Sar prison on charges of fraud.
