Catholics across the globe are celebrating Ash Wednesday today the 6th of March. The celebration is usually held 40 days before Esther celebration.
In Catholic church, a sign that signify the cross of Christ is place on the forehead of its members. The sign also signify that man was raised from dust and return to dust.
The celebration also marks the beginning of the lent period.
Ash Wednesday is observed by many Christians, including Anglicans, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Old Catholics ,
Methodists , Presbyterians , Roman Catholics and some Baptists .
The name is derived from the placing of repentance ashes on the foreheads of participants to either the words “Repent, and believe in the Gospel”
