Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has departed the United States as he heads to Abuja, Nigeria for a presidential debate set to hold later on Saturday evening. Atiku left the US after holding a town hall meeting with Nigerians in Washington DC.
Atiku had been in the US on a two-day visit where he spoke at the US-Africa Chambers of Commerce in Washington DC. The visit had sparked reactions from Nigerians and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, had on Friday, revealed that Atiku Abubakar would be answering questions over the collapse of Bank PHB upon his return to the country.
Mohammed said, ““Atiku should come home on time to answer these questions”. He added, “We want him to stay in the US for as long as he wants but he has to explain to Nigerians when he returns”.
President Muhammadu Buhari is not yet confirmed to be part of the televised debate.
