A 22-year-old law student identified Hiram Yahir Salas Romero decided to do the unthinkable when he appeared in Spiderman clothing to accept his Degree in an event that was supposed to be a solemn university graduation ceremony.
Romero broke with protocol at The Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez in northern Mexico when he decided to attend the proceedings dressed as the American superhero.
However, Mr Romero somewhat managed to change into a Spider-Man costume in the bathroom which he then concealed beneath a graduation gown.
As Mr Romero walked up to receive his graduation certificate, the Master of Ceremonies reminded the audience of the ‘solemnity’ of the occasion for which he received ‘several boos.’
Mr Romero said:
‘None of the authorities said anything. They just looked at me unhappily. I don’t remember if the Rector said anything, but I think I got a smile out of him.’
On receiving his degree Mr Romero also displayed a placard that read:
‘For the love of my life, my mother.’
He explained that not only had his mother supported him throughout his studies but that she had also given him the money for the Spider-Man suit.
