A pregnant teenage girl identified as Luisa Fernanda will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life, as a result of an infection affected her spinal cord after her breast tattoo got infected.
The teenage girl who also lost her baby as a result of the infection, fell ill after the breast tattoo got infected and reportedly underwent a surgery to drain off some of the liquid caused by the infection.
However the surgery procedure caused a problem in her appendix, which left her taking so much medication which led to a miscarriage and loss of her son.
However 16-year-old Luisa needs further treatment to help her deal with depression caused by the loss of her baby, and she has now spoken out about her experiences on social media to warn other youngsters about the dangers of tattoos.
‘A year ago I had a tattoo done and it caused the bacteria that affected the spinal cord and stopped me from walking again.
It was hard when I was told by the surgeons that I would not able to walk again.
My mum supported me a lot.
And it was hard when I left hospital because I needed help to get in and out of my wheelchair and my mum is not strong enough.
I was ashamed of being seen outside on the street, because people would point at me, but later I realised it was not good to stay at home all the time’ she said.
Friends of the lady from Central Colombia who needs further operation as she battles to regain her health, are now trying to raise money to cover the cost of her 14-million-COP – about £3,600 – treatment.
