Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has reacted to a statement made by the club’s former midfielder, Paul Scholes.
Speaking to journalists, Paul Scholes wondered how Mourinho managed to survive after his performance last Saturday.
United have now drawn at home to Valencia and Wolves, lost away to West Ham and been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Derby County.
‘I’m actually sat here surprised he survived after Saturday the performance was that bad,’ said the former midfielder on BT Sport.
‘He’s coming out in press conferences, he’s constantly having a go at players, he’s having a go at people above him because he’s not getting what he wants and I think his mouth is probably out of control and I think he’s embarrassing the club.’
Reacting to the statement by Paul Scholes, Mourinho said, ‘I am not interested in that, I don’t need to know what Paul Scholes said. ‘He has freedom of speech just like anyone else, just like the fans who were chanting “attack, attack” in the second half.
‘People can say what they like, especially Manchester United supporters, because I respect their point of view.’
