The Lagos State House of Assembly has spoken on an alleged move to impeached Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.
The speaker of the house, Mudashiru Obasa, during a plenary session dismissed it all as rumors.
According to Obasa, impeachment requires a constitutional process which the lawmakers were not considering on embarking on.
This was made public on the Twitter handle of the Lagos House of Assembly.
The statement reads:
“The Rt.Hon Speaker @mudashiru_obasa clears the rumours on alleged impeachment of the Executive Governor @AkinwunmiAmbode. Impeachment is constitutional & has its process. we are not embarking on that yet. H.E @AkinwunmiAmbode has not committed any impeachable offence.
“We don’t need wailers to advise us on how to go about our duties. For now, we are still working in one accord to move Lagos forward. This is to clear the rumours.”
