Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to help Juventus to a 2-1 win against Sassuolo in a match that was marred by Douglas Costa’s spitting incidence.
The Portugal captain opened the scoring five minutes after the restart with a tidy finish.
He added another goal in the 65th minute to give Juventus a 2-0 lead and end his 320 minutes wait for his first Juventus goal.
Ronaldo could have had a hat trick but he missed two clear cut chances.
Douglas Costa’s moment of anger overshadowed Ronaldo’s moment, the Brazilian lost his head when he spat in the face of Federico di Francesco in the closing moments of the match.
The referee gave him the matching order for an unsportsmanlike behavior.
Ronaldo expressed his excitement after breaking the goal duck for the Serie A Club.
“I was a little bit anxious as expectations were high,” said Ronaldo. “I really wanted to score, so I’m happy.
“Of course, there was attention after my arrival in Turin, but life is like that.
“I’m happy. I’m working well and my team-mates help me to adapt to this championship.”
Juventus have won their first four league matches of the season.
