The body of a 9-year-old Grade 9 pupil who had been declared missing few days ago has been found in Cape Town, sparking another murder hunt in the city where children are killed at the rate of more than one a week.
According to reports, Previledge Mabvongwe disappeared on Monday, after a taxi dropped her metres from her front door in Kraaifontein, north of Cape Town, after school.
Speaing on the unfortunate incident, the Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said;
“her body was found on Thursday morning, August 30, at a dumping site next to Sam Jokozela Avenue in Bloekombos, 80m from where she is believed to have been abducted. She was still wearing her Scottsville Primary School uniform, a blue jersey, navy school skirt and black shoes,”
Rwexana noted that crime scene experts and members of the Kraaifontein Police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit combed the area for clues.
He also said;
“Police detectives appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrator to come forward to assist with the investigation”
The SA Democratic Teachers Union provincial chairperson Jonovan Rustin said the union was shocked by the incident.
Rustin said;
“Our pupils are precious, and we need to do everything to ensure they are safe while travelling to school”.
