Mamchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has spoken about the drama that played out between Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez over a penalty kick in the 2018/2019 English Premier League opening game against Leicester City.
The Red Devils went ahead against Leicester City inside three minutes of after a handball from Daniel Amartey, with Luke Shaw scoring the decisive goal late on in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
However, before the early spot-kick was dispatched by Pogba, Sanchez tried to nab the ball off his teammate – though Mourinho insists the Frenchman did not break rank.
According to Mourinho, Pogba is the penalty taker for the Red Devils.
However, while speaking in the mixed zone afterwards, Pogba stated that there was no designated penalty taker in the team.
“We don’t really have one (penalty taker) – maybe the next game I can give it to Alexis, it’s not a problem,” he said.
Luke Shaw pounced on a Juan Mata pass to make it 2-0, before Jamie Vardy pulled one back in the dying minutes.
