Liverpool started their 2018/2019 season with a flourish by beating West Ham United 4-0 at Anfield.
Mohammed Salah who won the highest goal scorer award last season opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a tap in.
Saido Mane scored a brace before Daniel Sturridge came off the bench to score the fourth goal to give Liverpool their biggest opening day victory at home since 1932.
Nabil Keita and Alison made their full debuts for Liverpool and they impressed the Kops.
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp hailed the performance of his midfielders.
“The performance of all the boys and the midfield of James [Milner] and Georginio Wijnaldum was outstanding,” Klopp added.
“We played as good as possible today and we extended a really good pre-season into the Premier League.”
Meanwhile West Ham coach Manuel Pellegrini praised the quality of the Liverpool team
“It was a tough game before the game, during the game and after the game,” Pellegrini said.
“They reached the final of the Champions League and bought a lot of new players.
