Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan dies

Former United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan has died.

The diplomat who hails from Ghana passed in Switzerland after a brief illness. He was 80.

Annan won the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian efforts and was the first black African to take up the role of the world’s top diplomat, serving two terms from 1997 to 2006.

His family and foundation announced that he passed on Saturday.
