Former Arsenal FC manager, Arsene Wenger has arrived Liberia where he is to be awarded the country’s highest honor from president George Weah. Wenger was received at the airport by the country’s minister of Youth and Sports, Eugene Nagbe.
President Weah will be inducting the Frenchman into his country’s Order of Distinction and given the title of Knight Grand Commander of the Humane Order of African Redemption
The award not only conveys their personal connection, but also that he ‘has contributed to sports in Africa and has given many Africans opportunities, according to the information minister.
The ceremony will take place in the capital, Monrovia, on Friday.
Weah who is the only African to have been named World Player of the Year, was signed by Arsene Wenger for Monaco in 1988.
