At Saturday’s by-election held at Kogi state to fill the Kogi/Koto-Karfe Federal Constituency seat, there have been allegations of vote-buying activities by individuals who monitored the process.
According to Twitter user, Isima Odeh, voters were given a package containing three onions, tomato paste and a few other items. He wrote, “They are sharing THREE ONIONS each for votes in the Federal Constituency bye election in Kogi State. This is how lowly Politicians view Nigerians. What an insult!”
Other reports also have it that the package was distributed to voters who did not get the cash gifts that ranged from N3,000 to N10,000.
Another Twitter user also corroborated the story when he wrote, “APC share package onions and salt immediately after the election… At Mami market polling unit, Ward A, Lokoja Lga, kogi state”
