Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo has spoken concerning the game against Argentina which saw Nigeria crashing out of the 2018 FIFA world cup in Russia after they lost 2-1.
Kenneth Omeruo failed to keep an eye on Lionel Messi who made a brilliant run pass him to slot the ball pass the Nigerian goalkeeper in the first half. However, Nigeria bounced back through Victor Moses who scored from the spot.
In the 86th minute, the Nigerian defense couldn’t hold the pressure from the Albeceleste’s attack as Marcos Rojo found the back of the net to secure a place for Argentina who will now be meeting France in the knock-out stage.
Concerning the loss, Kenneth Omeruo said,
“I felt bad, the team came from a situation losing the first game, the second game we fought well and won the game,” Omeruo explained to TVC Nigeria.
“We knew we needed that last game to seal it up, the support we got after winning the second game was amazing.
“They were attacking a lot, they blocked our wing, they knew we were better from the Victor Moses wing because he is one of our best players, they knew this.
“They pressed on us, we defended well until the last four minutes.”
