In a bid to improving the standard of spoken and written English in Nigeria, Veteran broadcaster, Bimbo Oloyede is set to launch her latest publication and audio CD, titled ‘Strictly Speaking (Pronunciation made easy)’ on the 25th of June 2018.
The book “Strictly Speaking” is designed to help non-native speakers of English – students and professionals alike – improve their speech, become better communicators and attain mastery of a language spoken globally. The book explores, the origin of the English language, the phonetic alphabets, sounds and symbols, stress patterns, English expressions and explores the concept of “Nigerian English”.
It is also based on the belief that articulation and effective communication is an efficient tool that strengthens personal and corporate development, promotes educational advancement, and enhances dynamic information dissemination and good governance.
According to the author, “Strictly Speaking (Pronunciation made easy) is an adventurous journey into vocal gymnastics – the type that will enable an individual to land safely on feet, with your head held high, teeth intact and smiling with style and panache, all the way.”
“Strictly Speaking is my contribution towards re-awakening the first part of the effective communication process and a practical way of improving the standard of spoken and written English, which is after all, Nigeria’s official language” She added.
The book has been written for anyone who realises that speaking correct English is a prerequisite for communicating In the 21st century And global market. It’s sequel, Strictly Speaking – An Oral Guide for Schools and Colleges has been written specifically for students in secondary schools and colleges, who require more technical information and detail about the elements of oral English. It also provides practical examples and exercises to help students in preparing for examinations
The book launch, under the distinguished chair of Dr. Christopher Kolade (CON), will hold on the 25th of June, 2018, and is strictly by invitation.
