A South African lady has taken to social media to narrate how a Taxify driver seriously battered and robbed her sister. She shared pictures showing her sister’s battered face on Twitter and wrote:
”I’ve been holding onto this b/c I wasn’t going to do anything she’s uncomfortable with. This is my sister who was beaten by a @taxify_za driver on Sat afternoon. He also took her belongings. He continued until she was saved by people who saw what happened”
Thankfully the authorities have been alerted and the man would soon be arrested.
Similar issue with Taxify drivers is currently being faced in Nigeria. Two months ago, a lady narrated how a Taxify driver almost kidnapped her after she booked his vehicle. The lady by the Facebook name Sandra Sabriel Ifudu, claims the driver waited outside her gate till 4am to kidnap her just cos the fee for the ride which she transferred to him didn’t reflect in his bank account. Read her narration below.
”Is Taxify no longer safe for women to use? This idiot of a driver by name Izedomni dropped me off in my house last night, waited outside my gate till 4am in the morning, then came into my compound to kidnap me. According to him,the money I transferred to him ‘has not entered’,therefore I should follow him to d ATM by 4am! to confirm. If his intentions were pure, why didn’t he wait till day break? Why ask me to follow him out at that time? If this is not an attempt to kidnap,I don’t know what it is. The only person I blame in all these,is my neighbour that opened the gate for a total stranger at 4am!”
