English Premier League side, Arsenal is set to appoint Paris Staint-Germain coach Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger’s replacement. Former Arsenal player, Mikel Arteta was favorite for the job, but due to the power he wasn’t going to have over the ins and outs of the club’s affairs, nabbing the job at London breezed from his reach.
36 year old Arteta is currently assistant to Pep Guardiola who has established a total control at Manchester City.
According to the BBC, Arsenal voted unanimously in favor of appointing Emery. Reports now have it that Unai Emery has flown to London and the 46-year-old is locked in contract talks with Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis, with an unveiling likely in the next 48 hours.
Unai Emery left PSG at the end of the season when his contract ran out after winning the French title and four domestic cups in two seasons in charge. He also led Sevilla to three successive Europa League triumphs.
Thiery Henry is also considered by the Gunners to play an assistant role at the club. The former Arsenal player accompanied by his agent Darren Dein, met with the club’s hierarchy on Monday.Follow @kemifilanisblog
