ACP Abayomi Shogunle has resurrected the social media beef between Ghana and Nigeria, but this time it has nothing to do with Jollof rice.
ACP Abayomi Shogunle, who is in charge of Nigeria Police Public Complaint Response Unit (PPCRU), had tweeted about the things a police officer may request from a Lagos driver upon stopping his vehicle when he got a reaction from a lady.
He tweeted:
”COMMERCIAL CAR Drivers Licence Vehicle Licence Cert of Insurance Proof of Ownership Cert of Road Worthiness (4yrs+) Hackney Carriage Licence Driver Badge, Conductor Badge ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS MAY ONLY BE REQUESTED AT POLICE STATION – CASE OF SUSPECTED STOLEN VEHICLE. #YsGuide2/2”.
Reacting to the list, the lady tweeted about how different the case is in Ghana:
”Here in Ghana we don’t drive with our car papers and police don’t ask you for it, unless otherwise. Been driving since 2013 here in Ghana. I’ve only been asked about my drivers license on two occasions. 1) made a wrong u-turn 2) because I have four of my friends at the back seat”.
Sensing he was about to be drawn into a Ghana-Naija Jollof rice kind of battle, ACP Abayomi Shogunle tweeted:
”No basis for comparison between & . How many people are living in Ghana? How many vehicles are in Ghana? Land wise, Ghana is not up to many LGA. Ghana Police is so small that all the officers know themselves (name & face) which makes impersonating police difficult”.
