Fc Bayern, VOE Foundations & StarTimes Nigeria have made it possible for fans of German league in Nigeria to have a feel of the Bundesliga trophy as part of activities to mark the climax of the just concluded FC Bayen Youth Cup Tournament.
Many fans trooped out on Saturday March 10 to view the trophy and participate in other side attractions include an autograph session by 3x World Cup winner & current Bayern Assistant Coach, Klaus Augenthaler.
The trophy was on display at Aduvie International School in Jahi District, Abuja from 11am till about 3pm during which fans took pictures, videos and interacted with some FC Bayern legends who were present at the event.
This is the first time the trophy is visiting Africa and Nigeria was the choice destination.
The trophy departed Nigeria on Sunday, for a similar activity at the finals of the Youth Cup Tournament Singapore.
The Bundesliga trophy arrived Nigeria just few days after the FIFA World Cup trophy departed the country. The World Cup trophy which is on a tour of 91 cities in 51 countries across six continents before the finals, touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard a chartered flight..
The trophy was received by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung; the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola; President of The Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick; NFF Vice Presidents Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko and; NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi.
From the airport, the trophy, accompanied by several top officials of Coca-Cola’s Global Office and Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, including Coca-Cola Nigeria Managing Director Bhupendra Suri and Managing Director of Nigeria Bottling Company Georgios Polymenakos, made its way to the Transcorp Hilton Hotel for a press conference.
This is the fourth Global Tour by the FIFA World Cup Trophy, and the third time it would be visiting Nigeria.
