Following the reports of President Muhammadu Buhari approval of the appointment of Edward Adamu as one of the new deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), his name was forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
Upon verification, the Senate on Thursday, March 22, confirmed Adamu as a deputy governor of the apex bank.
Here are 11 facts about the newly confirmed deputy governor.
1. Adamu was born on June 22, 1959 in Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe state.
2. He studied quantity survey in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
3. Adamu is a member of several professional bodies, namely the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors; Project Management Institute, USA; International Knowledge Management Institute, USA; International Society for Performance Improvement, USA; and the Association of Project Managers, UK
4. He was employed by the Central Bank of Nigeria in June 1992
5. In 2012, Adamu was appointed director of the Strategy Management Department responsible for the articulation of strategy to deliver the mandate of the bank
6. Between 1992 and 2003, he served in several offices of the Engineering Services Department of the CBN handling Project Conception, Evaluation, Contract Documentation, Cost Planning & Control, Project Implementation and Closure of several projects of the Bank, including the current CBN Head Office Abuja
7. He rose from the position of a Manager to an Assistant Director. 8. As a Deputy Director in 2006, he served as CBN’s Head of Business Support Division in charge of a portfolio of teams and functions, including Knowledge Management, Records Management, Strategic Alliance and Price Intelligence 9. In 2016, Adamu was appointed Director, Human Resources Department in charge of developing the human capital assets of the bank

11. In 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him to replace Mr Barau as the new Deputy Governor. The appointment which the Senate has just confirmed.
