Late Nigerian music producer OJB who died early today had some unfulfilled dreams.
A particular unfulfilled dream would sadden a lot of people. Many of
his friends who have been at his residence all day have an extra reason
to mourn him because some of them should have been smiling to the bank
at 4pm today.
Some of them who spoke to THENETNG anonymously revealed that OJB had
finalised plans to sell his Surulere residence for N50m today to a
commercial bank (name withheld).
‘You know he’s been saving money to go for another surgery that
would gulp close to $150,000 and he didn’t want it to go public, so the
plan was to sell the house. As a matter of fact we would have sold the
house about three weeks back but a document was missing. Now we have the
document and they were supposed to come and make the payment at 4pm
today but Baba don die’ one of them said.
Confirming the story, another source said, ‘Baba just wanted
to sell the house and travel abroad, then when he returns he wanted to
relocate to his other house in Abuja. Now we are all sad because we all
had commissions from the sale of the house, but God knows best’.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the late singer actually died in
his sleep at his 4, Gbaja Street, Surulere (Lagos) home. Those who tried
to wake him up early this morning ( Tuesday, June 14) discovered that
he was unresponsive… and quickly ferried him to the hospital where he
was confirmed dead on arrival.
The 49 year old father of eight children and husband of three wives
had a kidney collapse last week, and didn’t recover from the
debilitating condition.

OJB’S FIRST WIFE: MABEL OKUNGBOWA
Mabal fondly called Mama J is OJB’s eldest wife. Mabel has three
lovely kids with the late music producer. Mabel stood by her ailing
husband during his battle with kidney failure which later took his life.
She did not only accompany him to India for a kidney transplant, she
also donated one of her kidneys.
Until OJB’s death, they lived together at his Surulere home with their kids.
WIFE NUMBER TWO: JUNE ‘AMA’ OKUNGBOWA
A mother of three, June otherwise known as Ama is OJB’s second wife.
Ama once took up a career in music and churned out few songs which
enjoyed massive airplay on TV back in 2003. OJB, who produced all her
songs got married to her during that period.
Ama dumped her music career to focus on her marriage and her three
children – Denzel, Zion and Emmanuel. A graduate of the University of
Lagos, Ama once worked at the then popular fashion store, Collectibles.
HIS THIRD WIFE: KOREDE OKUNGBOWA
Korede, a popular dancer is OJB’s youngest wife. A graduate of
Olabisi Onabanjo University, the beautiful lady, who featured in a lot
of musical videos as a dancer in early 2000s, used to be rapper
Ruggedman’s official dancer.
Korede is in her 30s and has two kids with the talented beat-maker – a boy (Damilare) and baby girl (Ifebiyi).
Korede runs a catering oufit with the brand name – Kokomo – a pet we gathered was given to her by her late husband.
