The British Prime Minister, David Cameron is
trending on Twitter today after he was caught on video saying that
Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Nigeria &
Afghanistan to be exact.
The Prime Minister forgot his mic was on while boasting to the Queen
of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury – Justin Welby and Commons
Speaker John Bercow at an event at Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, when
he made remark about “fantastically corrupt countries Nigeria &
Afghanistan attending his anti corruption summit”, which just took place
in London.
He said,
We had a very successful cabinet meeting this morning. We
talked about our anti-corruption summit. We’ve got…leaders of some
fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain. Nigeria and
Afghanistan are possibly two of the most corrupt countries in the
world”.
After Cameron’s comments, Justin Welby spoke in Buhari’s defense saying, “But this particular president is not corrupt… he’s trying very hard”
And the Queen backed him up adding, “He’s trying”
President Buhari who has had a few friendly meetings with Cameron is
said to be embarrassed by his British counterpart’s comment.
