International news outfit, CNN has featured the captivating story of a bread seller’s meteoric rise to stardom and fame.
Olajumoke Orisaguna, who
has enjoyed massive love from different quarters since her accidental
discovery by ace photographer, TY Bello during a photoshoot for UK based
rapper, Tinie Tempah, has been featured on the African Voices segment of the Cable news network.
The feature chronicled her unplanned foray into the world of fashion,
modelling, contracts and luxurious apartments as TY Bello stated that
“She seemed a little confused.”
“Some people were asking her to walk past really quickly, others were
asking her to stay, she was just in limbo. I said ‘is it ok to take
your photograph?’ And she nodded ok.”
She revealed that “I didn’t think I made a great image,” but after
uploading the pictures on social media a lot of comments started rolling
in inquiring about the bread seller.
“When the photographs landed for the first time on social media, everyone immediately thought she was a model.
“No one believed she just walked past. It occurred to me that if
everyone thought she should be a model then maybe she should be one,
then the search for her began” Bello said.
Speaking on her rise to fame, Olajumoke said “I never expected this would ever happen to me.
“My friends have told me they saw me on the TV and they are really
happy. My parents cannot believe their own child can become such a
success.
“They are all so happy.”
Olajumoke has been offered an international scholarship to finish her
education while a bank has offered her two children scholarships up to
university level.
In addition to the modelling contract she signed with a fast rising
agency, Olajumoke is scheduled to appear on a billboard advert very
soon.
TY Bello further opined that the reason Olajumoke’s story became an
instant hit is because she typifies the dream of everyone. “Everyone
connected with the story because everybody has dreams,” she said.
“This is a very tough time in my country. Everyone is looking for
that magical break. I think this is definitely divine because the way
people have connected with it is just phenomenal. It’s a phenomenal
story.”
