President Muhammadu Buhari, has appointed Colonel Hamidu Ali as his Chief of Staff.
Ali, was a former military administrator of Kaduna State.
It was widely believed that the immediate past governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola, may be selected for the position.
What you should know about him:
1. He was a military administrator of Kaduna State during the military regime of Sani Abacha.
As military administrator, he sacked over 30, 000 striking civil
servants and detained 18 Local Government Chairmen in Kaduna. Henry
Ugbolue, a journalist of The NEWS and TEMPO magazines, reported the
sackings and was allegedly arrested, detained, and tortured.
2. During the 2015 elections, he was in charge of crowd funding project for President Muhammadu Buhari presidency project.
3. He was the secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum.
4. Following the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012, he led the Kaduna protest to revert the pump price to N65. The protest was marred by violence as hundreds of Kaduna youth attacked local police.
5. He has been listed as Buhari’s Chief of Staff since April, 2015 on his Wikipedia page.
