One of the most anticipated shows of the year, the AY Live show happened last night and was it awesome? We will tell you below.
show slated for 6pm started way later – 2 hours and 20 behind schedule
to be precise.
1. The standing Ovation for President Goodluck Jonathan:
One of our favorite moments of the night was when popular comedian
and filmmaker, Ayo Makun a.k.a AY Comedian gave a shout out to Nigeria’s
outgoing President, Goodluck Jonathan. He urged everyone to give a
round of applause to Jonathan, stating that he is the reason the event
could hold in peace.
‘Goodluck is a true epitome of what a statesman should be, and a
real reflection of the change this country needs. He put the peace and
wellbeing of this country before his ambition, and I can liken him to
Jesus Christ today who sacrificed himself for us all and resurrected
today,’ AY stated.
2. When Gordon mocked Mode 9:
While cracking jokes at the event, Comedian Gordons threw an epic
shade at veteran rapper, Mode 9, saying Modo’s career is dead.
‘For you to be a successful rapper in this world, you have to
die. 2pac was a good rapper; he died and became great. Biggie rap so
tey, he rap till he die. Mode 9 is still alive but his career is dead;
at least something don die.’ Gordons joked and of course, everyone laughed.
3. When Ajebo took a swipe at Timaya:
While cracking his jokes at the event, Popular comedian Ajebo tk a swipe at er, Timaya.
‘‘Timaya needs to clearly define to us what he wants to be;
whether na gospel artiste abi na ukwu artiste. ‘Imagine, my mum, who is a
minister heard his song ‘Never Bow Down’ and entered the spirit. I
tried to warn her but she insisted Timaya is a man of God indeed, until
she heard the last track on the album: Ukwu!’”
Yea, as expected, everyone laughed out loud.
4. Akproro’s rape joke: Apparently, comedian Akpororo made a distasteful joke on stage about a lady being raped.
“I was traveling in a bus and saw a girl in the same bus. I was
trying to ask her out but she didn’t agree. Soon, armed robbers stopped
the bus, collected all our valuables and asked me to strip. Then they
pointed a gun at the girl and asked her to strip too. Then they ordered
me to have sex with her from behind at gun point. At the end, I enjoyed
it so much that I started saying thank you to the armed robbers.” Honestly, everyone laughed out loud but we find the joke rather insensitive.
5. Onyeka Onwenu got everyone dancing and singing along:
It was nice to see that Onyeka Onwenu can still get the audience
dancing. And then, some dude actually sprayed cash on Onyeka Owenu as
she sang on stage.
6. When AY and his crew acted out the Jega vs Orubebe election drama:
Remember how Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe,
attempted to disrupt proceedings during the announcement of the
presidential election results last week…well Comedian AY and his crew
recreated the act and yup, the comedy boss played the epic role of the
INEC chairman Jega.
They also mimicked the Rivers state professor, Professor Etu Efeotor
who failed to read the State’s allegedly collated results during the
General elections.
