Deola and Loye |
Whoop, meet lovebirds Deola and Akinloye!!!
We tag this edition of the ‘Every Monday True Love Story Series’ as the wedding of life – it was truly a
spectacular ceremony with unconventional highlights from the Fairy-tale
carriage that Deola and Loye rode in, to the 26 man bridal train which
had to block Magodo expressway in Lagos, to the Wedding Dance off at the
reception, to the Dancing slippers and custom made glasses for the
wedding guest.
Their official wedding photographer was Akintayo Timi while their wedding videographer was Tolu Sholanke whose works we truly adore.

(Explaining why I love is you is like explaining how water tastes: completely impossible.) |
Deola and Akinloye met through a mutual friend, Funmi, so here’s their beautiful story from her perspective:
Akinloye and I have been friends for a number
of years now. His older brother,Mr. Akin Odeyemi, through whom I met him, is
married to my beautiful cousin Mrs. Debola Odeyemi and that’s how our
friendship started.
I met Deola a few years ago at a mutual friends birthday dinner; and it was
friendship at first sight and we’ve been friends ever since.
Sometime in June 2013, Akinloye called me while he was in Dubai on
holiday with his friends. I was quite surprised by his call. It turned out that
he called to hook me up with one of his friends. Apart from being at work, I
was not interested.
Incidentally, at the time he called I was chatting with Deola on my other
phone. I said to him, ‘you are trying to hook me up; you, do you have a babe?!’
He said,”Ahhhh, Fumzzzyyy no oooo!!! I’m ready to marry, but no babe
O!” I said ok. I have a very correct babe for you and I’ll give you only
her phone number. You have to call her. Please no mindless BBM chatting. He agreed,
and I sent him her number. As I was talking to him, I was messaging Deola at
the same time.Knowing that I won’t try to hook her up with just anybody, she
obliged me.
Thereafter, I got a couple of messages and phone calls from Akinloye thanking
me for the hook up. I thought to myself, “I think the love must be in his
own eyes only O, because Deola had not said anything to me and I didn’t feel it
was my place to ask.” And I knew she would tell me when she is ready.
Fast forward. A couple of months later, Deola and I were catching up like girls
normally do and I jokingly asked her if she got a boo yet. She said,
“yes!” I said,”for real, who?!”
She said, ‘Funmi, really, really!’ Then she told me to guess. I said,
“Omo, I’m not good at guessing.”
For the life of me, I just couldn’t guess. She then volunteered the good news
of the year. I screamed and of course my next words were, “For real! Oh
wow!” Great!
Ahn, ahn, then sometime last year Akinloye had a chat with me about buying a
ring. Then months after that chat, he called me one evening and told me he was
going to propose soon. By the time I woke up the next morning, my brother had
proposed o!!! He couldn’t wait to make lovely Adeola his wife.
Akinloye gives me credit a lot and tells everyone who cares to listen that I’m
the one who introduced him to the love of his life”.…aww!

Just The Two of Us:
|
“You know when you have found your prince/princess because you not only have a smile on your face, but in your heart as well.” |
|
“I love you. You annoy me more than I ever thought possible, but… I want to spend every irritating minute with you |
|
“I love your feet
because they have
wandered over
the earth and through
the wind and water
until they brought
you to me.” |
|
Not even the world can separate us….our love is unbreakable |
|
“I promise to notice and acknowledge the positive things that you do, rather than get hung up on the negatives. I promise to forgive both of us for having not known from the start how
to be the kind and generous partners we’ve finally become. |
|
We now join our hands, and with our hands our hearts.” |
|
And together we shall live happily ever after 🙂 |
