Oops! Keshi resigns & Yobo quit Super Eagles…blame Enyeama!

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has resigned his appointment
after leading the team to the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking
after the Eagles were eliminated by France in the round of 16 match in
Brasilia, Monday, the Delta State-born tactician said it was time to
move on after leading his country’s national team to the Africa Nations
Cup trophy last year and the ongoing World Cup in Brazil.
“I have to go back to my family and face fresh challenges,” Keshi said.
Similarly,
Super Eagles Captain, Yobo Joseph said he has had enough and can go no
further as national team player. “I think I should give the younger ones
the opportunity to forge ahead. I have nothing new to offer.
Meanwhile, Goal.com is reporting that Stephen Keshi believes that Vincent Enyeama cost Nigeria their World Cup
progress with his blunder in their 2-0 last-16 defeat by France.
The goalkeeper pulled off some fine saves to keep Les
Bleus at bay but made a fatal error with 11 minutes left, failing to
clear a corner which allowed Paul Pogba to put Didier Deschamps’s men
into the lead.
Keshi
admitted that Enyeama’s error had handed the game to France and hinted
that some of his players had taken their eye off the ball.
“Enyeama
had to make a decision and I don’t know why he went for it like that,”
he told reporters. “It’s his call and it cost us. It was a big moment.
“I
don’t know why African teams don’t go further. If I were out there on
the pitch, I would never want to go home. Probably some of the players
are not focused enough. We will have to review this.”

  1. keshi resigns…Mikel resigns…..yobo resigns….Jonathan resigns…..then it will look lyk nigeria just won the world cup

    1. everybody fvcked up in the match against France ad i mean every body. from calamity yobo to mikel to osaze to even the usually impressive enyeama, so we cant single out any person, after 25-30mins of the match they switched off. I was thinking they will up their game in the second half, alas i was wrong cos the 2nd half was total football rubbish……nonsense

    1. When yobo knew he doesn't have anything to offer why did he went to brazil? Yeye boy! Well the one wey u play don do self, I beg go hang that boot of yours

    1. What a away to quit the national team, after scoring an own goal that eliminated the team that you are their leader as a captain…… Yobo is really a mistake in this tournament.

    2. SOME PEOPLE DONT APPRECIATE WHAT KESHI AND YOBO HAVE DONE FOR THE EAGLES OVER THE YEARS U ALL THINK IT IS EASY ABI WHAT CRIME HAVE DEY COMMITTED ? I WAS EXPECTING U PEOPLE TO AT LEAST GIVE THESE GUYZ SOME SUPPORT DEY ARE LEGENDS IN THE MAKING. AND ALL U R HERE INSULTING DEM FOR REPRESENTING THEIR BELOVED COUNTRY.
DONT WORRY,ONEDAY U WILL ALSO BE IN THE SAME SHOES AND U WILL END UP NOT BEIGN APPRECIATED AND U ALL WILL SEE HOW IT FEELS LIKE.

  2. Keshi has not gotten the level of criticism given to Goodluck by Nigerians.as a leader he doesn't need to listen to everything from mere spectators. Well, kudos to Goodluck who has beard a lot from impatient Nigerians including the violent politicians hosting bh.

  3. Coach Keshi. SHAME ON YOU for singling out a player like that. Do you know that Enyeama is one of the bright spots of the Super Eagles at Brazil. Arguably their best player too. Yes, he made a mistake with that first goal but there were a good 10 minutes after that. What did the other players do in those 10 minutes? What did you do coach? From what I could see you were looking in awe at the French team instead of trying to encourage our boys or make a tactical change.
Now please apologize to Vincent in private for making him your scape goat. The team failed as a unit and you are the leader of that unit, so accept responsibility. When SE won AFCON in 2013, you were quite fast in absorbing all the kudos, now be a man and do the same as a leader of our beloved super eagles.
Vincent Enyeama and the boys that played well – THANK YOU!

  4. We actually did well. The ref was against us. God bless Keshi, Enyeama, Osaze, Emenike, Babatunde, Onazi, Omeruo, Musa. No thanks to Mikel and Moses.

  5. as the coach of the team, he is not suppose to point finger.
btw, enyeama is our best player in this tournament.
Keshi ought to be to kissing whatever floor Eyeama walks on, instead of bashing him.

  6. Wow, that's just not fair. After all the great saves that Enyeama did, Keshi just blames him. That is completely unfair. Enyeama did a fantastic job. The only reason why Keshi is saying this now is because he knows that his tenure with the Super Eagles is up and he is most likely going to South Africa.

Enyeama can not be blamed for the loss. When one person makes a mistake, the whole team needs to be held accountable (coaching staff included).

In my opinion, it was well-fought evenly balanced game. The only people at fault here are African organisations like the NFF/NFA and their lack of funding Nigerian football with the riches they possess. Instead, they chop chop chop money here and there. Few questions for the NFF:

    1. Do we have a great recruiting programme in place that assesses youths from the ages of 5 to 15 years old from the North of Nigeria to the South of Nigeria? Do we have football scouts in all 36 states that watch young boys play and scout for potential?

    2. What are the rich people in Nigeria doing to help fund the progress of the NFF and the Nigerian team? There is no reason why we can not be champions right now.

    3. The players played well, some did not quite play to expectation. Yobo and Odemwingie are too old to be on the Super Eagle squad no offence. I believe that Nigeria's weakness in that match was lack of offensive prowess. Midfield and Defence were good and sturdy. The problem was lack of offensive prowess and lack of strikers and midfielders moving forward. We could never score despite the ball being on the oppositions side of the field a lot during the first 70+ minutes of the match (I stopped watching after 70 minutes because it was too stressful for me, and at that point the game was still 0-0).

  7. As for me, eayeama did well. They started having probs when Onazi was taken out d midfield collapsed, Yobo did nothing other than scoring against d eagles… he shud av left b4 now but greed won't let him cos he want to remain d captain.

  8. Kemi Filani God will punish U and punish whatever U represent,hw can U sit down and cook up such a lie. This post is false,Stephen Keshi did not say anything about Enyeama, he knows that Enyeama helped Nigeria a lot.Keshi does not have time to criticize people let alone a prolific keeper like Enyeama.Femi U posted this nonsense to cause much traffic in ur blog,I don't kno why nigerians are falling for it.People are beginning to cause and criticize Keshi without knowing that he is innocent of this ur wicked post.Don't U that U are tanishing Keshi's good image with dis ur stupid post.Nigerians watch out for false information and mind what U comment on.GOD BLESS NIGERIA

    1. You are such a big fool Mr. or Miss Anonymos. Kemi Filani has made her name. You silly beggar. It is you and you generation that God will purnish you idiot. You dare abuse my friend. May God rain fire on you. The girl is working hard to get news out and you are saying Trash. I repeat MAY GOD PUNISH YOU. Idiot. – (If they born you well respond).
