Whoop it’s Monday!!! I so much love our KFB couple of the week (Toyin Fabunmi and Ozichukwu John), despite their tribal differences – Toyin says “Ozichukwu might be from Saturn while I am from Mercury but it doesn’t
matter at all, it has never mattered to us and in Christ it never will” – love brought them together and they are now inseparable.
Yup, we are inseparable for life |
Toyin and Ozichukwu got married at ST James Anglican church, Ilesha, Osun state on the 5th of October, 2013 – exactly 3years after they met…aww! Funny thing is they didn’t exactly plan it but somehow
it happened.
Narrating their love story, an excited Toyin said “We met in a bank. He should have been just another customer
confirming an account before paying in but mehn the guy did a double
take when he saw me and he gave an
opening line; “Nice hair, fowl yansh right” Oh well. See ehn, I would have given him my signature treatment; a
smile that wouldn’t quite reach the eyes and then totally act like I
didn’t hear but yeah I did a double take myself. “Fine boy” I thought and so I gave a smile that reached the eyes and then we became friends and then more than friends.”

The happiest man on earth at the moment, Ozichukwu, also said “I remember the day I met Toyin like it was yesterday but
interestingly the only thing about that day that I can remember with
surprising clarity is meeting her. Everything else is an indistinct blur
pushed to the recesses of my mind by the only pertinent thing; meeting
my angel, my missing rib, the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh.
I’d gone to the bank on that fateful day to carry out a transaction
whose details I can’t remember, it wasn’t even my bank, and not one that
I patronised routinely or even occasionally.“
As he walked into the banking hall, he beheld this pretty young lady
corporately dressed manning the customer service desk. He was intrigued. He approached her and made some enquiries and she replied with a smile
and laughter at some silly/innocuous joke that he made…he was captivated.
“Her smile, the sound of her laughter was like the beam of the sun in
the morning that followed a dark night and a mellifluous melody to my
ears.” he said.

Beautiful Toyin |
“After my transaction, I went back to meet her and get her mobile
number cos I was already enchanted by this charming girl. Later that day
I returned to see her at the close of work and chatted for a while.” That was the start of a friendship that has today culminated in a
synapse of two hearts that beat as one.
“Finally I understand what Lionel Richie has been crooning about and I
can fathom what Whitney Houston had always craved. All the love songs
by so many artists that I had heard at different times of my life that
had hitherto been so abstract have finally come together in a symphony
of perception that enriches my heart and soul.” Ozi said

gentleman through and through. He makes her feel at peace with the world. She can be herself when she’s with him without fears of being judged or
misunderstood.
We are HAPPY! |
And the bride cried for joy…. |
“I can shout it on several rooftops, he is one of the endangered
species; we don’t have much of his type around anymore. I feel blessed
to have him in my life. Our journey wasn’t easy, we had to fight several battles but God
was with us. At a point, It was as though we would never happen but God
and I had a discussion about it…awwww!
tempted to even say I don’t care if you approve or not but God I need
you in this because without you, we would not get anywhere. Lord if this
is not your will then let it scatter speedily, let all these stumbling
blocks prove too great for us. Lord however, I know that if our being
together is your will, no human being can stop us, sickness cannot be a
hindrance even the gates of hell cannot prevail.”
*End of discussion*
Today we are here, we won, we conquered all and we are grateful to God because it’s the Lord’s doing.”
and they clung to each other….aww! |
Ozichukwu also explained that the search for his missing rib was not an easy one
“At a point I had almost given up the search for a “soul mate” which
had always been an imperative for me; to find a soul mate not just a
wife/lover.
My search took me far and wide and on two occasions I had thought I
found “the one” only to be disappointed painfully. I had begun to be
disillusioned and even had the audacity to question God.
Thank God for his faithfulness because “his ways are not our ways,
neither his thoughts our thoughts” and this is what he has proved to me
yet again. For while I was searching for “MRS RIGHT” and actually found a
couple along the way God decided to prevent a union because “He knows
his thoughts towards me, thoughts of the best, to give me more than I
deserve at the end.” __ He gave me “MRS PERFECT”; a soul mate, an angel ,
a confidant, a friend, a lover, and a priceless jewel.
I have said the journey wasn’t easy and I mean it in every sense.
We had our ups and downs. We had our good times and bad times. We’ve had
experiences a couple should have to forge a strong bond; spiritually,
psychologically, socially, culturally, geographically e.t.c
I will spare you the tedium and boredom of exclusive details but I will highlight a few salient ones.
Whenever we are together I feel complete and happy and no matter what was bugging me I instantly cheer up.
Culturally, we represent the best of Nigeria, the best of Igbo – Yoruba cultures.
On the downside; emotionally it wasn’t easy for me to open up my
heart to her; having been hurt one too many times I’d built a fence
around my heart but she broke down my walls with the strength of her
love.
Psychologically, the health challenges that befell me strained our relationship but eventually we weathered that storm.
Culturally; guess that one would be obvious to all as to how it
may be an issue for our kith and kin, however all that is history today.
Geographically, I can’t even begin to explain the things
associated with keeping a distance relationship where you and your loved
one are separated by hundreds of kilometres, living in different
states. It just goes to show the calibre of woman that Thoyin is cos she
took it in her stride and the distance didn’t matter at all.
Whoop! The newest couple in town…. |
Ours is the union of mortals but nothing can keep us apart; not
time, not distance, not society, not work and so we have come together
in a Synapse to start our journey as ordained by the creator.
I cannot end this story of love without mentioning the unique qualities that stand Thoyin out from the crowd.
Her intelligence, contentment, peace loving and amiable nature,
her humility, kindness, consideration for others and above all Love are
such that the only other woman I know with such admirable qualities is
my Mother.
Thus it is very easy to see how I came to fall irrevocably in love
with this lady that has become my Jewel of inestimable value.
This is the prologue of the story of our Love. The chapters of this Love story began on October 5 2013.
Glory be to God.”
