Oops, the Afe Babalola University students are presently NOT happy and I understand – having your school fees unjustifiably increased (by 40%) can be very annoying and disappointing, yeah, I know what it feels like.
“Please let us not go back to school until they reduce the
school fees!! Pass this on people..let us protect our parents. If you are
not from ABUAD, please pass it on. 49% increase on the school fees is not a
joking matter!!”
Earlier this morning, I got this BC (above) but I didn’t take it serious until I got different mails from them…here’s one of the mails below:
Kemi am an avid reader of your blog and I know you are interested in
making impacts in peoples lives, either by keeping us updated on various
issues or just giving us a reason to smile and I really appreciate it.
Please
I need your help on behalf of all Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti
(ABUAD) students, we would like you to enlighten the society on the
exploitation presently going on in my school.
When enrolling into the
school we were told that after the initial enrollment fees we would only
have to pay #750,000 for Law, but late last night I got the shock of
the century just to find out that there has been a #500,000 increment
for no valid reason, they added some of the money to our room and
health expenses.
This is a school where when u apply for drugs worth
#1,500 would always be denied; a student died this year of simple
malaria ,we have no water, our walls are cracked, mucus everywhere, in
the last semester we had up to 3 fire threats, the list is endless.
The
school fees increment is a serious form of exploitation and this is done
because they feel that the students don’t have a voice or a say in the
matter, but Kemi we are Nigerians with freedom of speech and right to
fair hearing, please help us by being our voice, let people mount
pressure on our founder Afe Babalola so that our parents can have rest
of mind.
The money doesn’t grow on tree, our parents work so hard to
training us and we still have younger ones who need to go to school
too…For instance Engineering and Law students
paid N695,000 last semester but the new fee for this semester is
N1,095,000, N695,000 for social and management
college and sciences, N1, 200 000 for medicine students, some fees went
from N755,000 to N 1,245,000 and so on….Kemi please just post something about our dilemma and help sustain
our education. Thank you and God bless…
Some students are insisting that they will not resume until there is a reduction in the fees.
I really hope this issue is looked into….
