The scare which threw
the town into great confusion occurred when a shop owner on arriving for
business sighted a black polythene bag and thereafter raised an alarm that
attracted a large crowd to the scene thereby causing a long traffic jam along
the ever busy Bosso road.

When contracted the Niger
state police public relations officer, Pius Edobor while confirming the
incident said contrary to widespread speculations, there was no explosion
anywhere in the ancient town but a discovery of a strange bag by a resident who
quickly alerted the police.
