“The streets” is king, reality shows and talent competitions can testify to that.
A few months ago, Efe Ejeba effectively used his ‘underdog from the streets’ persona to win the Big Brother Naija reality show.
Today, it’s Idyl’s turn to attract followers and fans with a similar narrative.
The newly crowned winner of The Voice Nigeria was “proud” to state that he, a product of the streets, could ascend to winning the coveted singing competition.
The singer who was under the tutelage of his ace counterpart Timi
Dakolo was full of emotions and struggled to remain composed during a
post-victory interview.
Idyl said his win was made possible through his belief in God and hard work, adding that it can happen to anybody.
“Every young boy, it doesn’t matter where you come from. I’m proudly
from the streets. I tell you, you can be anything. Just believe God and
put in your hard work. Believe God and put in your hard work, You do fit
be anything. Na me be this today,” he said.
Idyl is the second winner of The Voice Nigeria, with Agharese Emokpae, winning the first season in 2016.
He will go home with a grand prize of a record deal, a luxury SUV, and an all-expense paid trip to Dubai.
Meanwhile KFBers, do you think he deserved the win? What can you say about this year’s the voice show?
A KFB writer thinks ‘With #IDYL wining the voice Naija and #Ebube coming 1st place ?
, it only confirms that only your talent can not take you places!! I
see God’s grace all around them.. WTF? I actually thought Wow,
Jahtell, Yimika or J’Dess would win oh!’
