One of the Police officers, who is supposed to be on duty in another bank, was injured and rushed to a hospital in an incident Police authorities in the state suspect is an insiders’ arrangement.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta Command, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, said the Operations Manager of the bank, suspected to have arranged for the Police escort, has been arrested and investigations on.

He disclosed that the policemen were on illegal duty and were yet to be seen hours after the attack.

His words: “A bullion van from a bank’s branch in Asaba left for its Agbor branch to pick N25 million.

The bank officials, to cut corners, illegally picked seven policemen from different locations, yet to be determined, because the bank lacks a serviceable armoured bullion van as required by law.

55 Husbands Reported Wives For Battery In Lagos - Attorney General

A total of 55 husbands have reported to the Lagos State Government how their wives battered them in the last eight years in renewed cases of domestic violence in the state.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, Adeniji Kazeem at a media briefing in Ikeja, yesterday, revealed that more men were now coming forward to report cases of violence against them by their women.

Kazeem, who is the chairman, Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT, said there had been 55 cases of men reporting domestic violence against them by their wives between January 2017 and now as against 14 that was recorded last year.

However, Kazeem disclosed that between January and September 2017, a total of 852 cases of domestic violence and related cases were recorded in Lagos State, saying that out of the total number, there were 564 domestic violence cases, 60 defilement cases, 30 rape cases, 11 attempted rape, 123 child neglect and abuse cases, and 84 other cases.

He said the data revealed that most of sexual assault cases were perpetrated in the afternoon during weekdays, while corroborating that 95 percent of the perpetrators of sexual violence were known to the victims, which according to him, necessitated the need to embark on sensitization campaigns for parents on parenting skills and child abuse prevention tips as well as training for children on child’s rights, child abuse, safety and how to preserve evidence.

Fayose Committed Sacrilege For Wearing Attire Meant For An Imam - Muslims Rights Group

For wearing attire meant for an Imam on the last Muslims’ festival, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State committed sacrilege, a Muslims rights group declared yesterday.

The Encarta Dictionary defines an Imam as an Islamic religious leader regarded as a direct descendant of Muhammad or Ali and appointed by Allah. An Imam is also defined by the same dictionary as a respected Islamic scholar, especially a founder of a school of theology or law.

Fayose is a Christian governor of Ekiti State.

However, for inexplicable reasons, the governor shocked the world on the last Muslims celebration on September 1, 2017 when he appeared in full regalia, including a turban as an Imam, at the venue of the event in his state.

Apart from the controversy stoked by the costume, Fayose also used the ground to make some strong political statements that have now been condemned by the Muslims Rights Concern, MURIC, headed by Islamic scholar, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

In a strongly-worded statement condemning the governor’s action, MURIC said: “The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, appeared on Eid ground dressed in Islamic regalia, including a turban on Friday, 1st September, 2017. Mr. Fayose also delivered a politically-motivated speech at the Id ground. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) strongly condemns Fayose’s action. It is highly sacrilegious and unduly provocative. It is Act I, Scene I in the Theatre of the Absurd.

“Governor Fayose cannot pretend to be a friend of Ekiti Muslims. He has delivered several anti-Muslim speeches and uttered several hate pronouncements targeted at Nigerian Muslims. His general attitude and body language to Muslims of Ekiti belie his status as the state governor. “He has also demolished mosques out of sheer desire to eliminate all Islamic landmarks in Ekiti. So, who is Fayose deceiving?”

Command Arrests Herbalists With Human Skull, Hands

The Osun State Police Command has arrested an herbalist, Adeniyi Adeyeye, with a suspected human skull at Moro, in the Ife North Local Government Area.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said on Tuesday that Adeyeye was arrested  in Ipetumodu following a tip-off.

Adeoye said, “We are still still investigating. He will be charged to court soon.” The suspect initially told Punch Metro that  one Akin, who was living in his house, brought the skull and he (Adeyeye) sent him packing because of that.

He said he was surprised that policemen arrested him because of the skull. Adeyeye later changed his story when he was accused of wanting to use the skull for money ritual for a client.

While denying the ownership of the skull, he admitted telling the client that money ritual must involve the use of human parts.

The police also paraded another herbalist, Babatunde Awolola, and one Ademola.

Thirty-nine-year-old Awolola was arrested in the Iwo area with two suspected human hands.

Awolola said he bought the hands from one Olakanmi for N10,000, adding that Ademola, a commercial motorcycle rider, did not know the content of the bag.

He explained that the two hands were got from corpses in a graveyard.

He said, “I am an herbalist.  I bought the hands from Olakanmi for N10,000. I buy other human parts from him also. The hands were got from a corpse.”
