Patient struggles for life after Oxygen finishes at Benue State Teaching hospital (photos)

A Facebook user, Ukan Kurugh posted this message as seen below:

This is Terdoo Shiejir a staff of Benue State Teaching Service Board on admission in the Accident And Emergency (A&E) ward of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
He is badly in need of oxygen right now but since yesterday the one he was on (oxygen) finished, the hospital authority said they have ran out of oxygen and their supplier in Abuja has not brought in new supplies. The family asked where they can get oxygen to buy for him,but they were rather told its from Abuja only and can't be gotten in town here. As you can see from the pictures, there is a fan blowing him. These are the type of services we get in Nigeria hospitals but funny enough nobody will be held or queried even. Why can't we have an oxygen bank in a state like Benue? We need to do more to save lives in our hospitals else more people will die from simple solutions.

  1. Gosh what is the way forward for this country

  2. It shall never be well with any govt official that steals money, same fate shall befall their generation

  3. I was there when this man was brought into the hospital and all I can say is that this story is NOT TRUE! It is very unfair to castigate people who went the extra mile to save this man's life. This man was on oxygen therapy from Saturday till Monday morning. At some point in time, the oxygen in the cylinder got finished {it does not give an endless supply) but the staff of BSUTH did all they could to ensure that the patient got a steady supply for close to FORTY EIGHT hours!
That deserves commendation and not this rubbish story (with a picture of a standing fan beside breathless man for added effect if I might add).
Please be careful about what you read and post on the internet.
    Thank you.
