Prophetess’ Husband Attempts To Rape Church Member

An Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, Ibadan, today dissolved the 15-year-old marriage between Nike Adenekan, a prophetess and her pastor husband, Adekunle Adenekan, over attempt to rape church member.

Nike filed a divorce suit before the court, seeking dissolution of her 15-year-old marriage to Adenekan, on grounds of telling lies, immoral acts and threat to life.

In his judgment, the court’s President, Chief Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage and gave custody of the only child of the union to the petitioner. Balogun restrained the defendant from further attending the petitioner’s church.


He also ordered him to pay N3, 500 as monthly allowance for the maintenance of the child

The petitioner alleged that her husband tried to rape an 18-year-old church member who lives with her.

Nike narrated how the defendant on three occasions, tried to rape one of her church member, who resides with her.

“My lord, there was a night my husband left me in the bed and climbed on the girl who was sleeping on the floor.

“When I caught him, my husband said he wanted to kill mosquito on the girl’s body and pleaded with me to forgive him.

“The girl also told me that my husband, on two occasions, attempted to rape her at night when I went to church for special prayers.

“Also, a particular woman in my church told me that daddy (Adenekan) wanted her to be his concubine and threatened to stop coming to my church if daddy continues disturbing her.

“He is in the habit of lying; I never trusted him and cannot fold my hands watching him to destroy my church.“ Nike told the court.

She pleaded with the court to grant her request for a divorce, saying she had made up her mind to end the union and that no one could convince her to change her mind.

Responding, Adenekan, who claimed to be a pastor, however, pleaded with the court not to grant Nike’s request, saying she had suffered with him and still wants her as his wife.

Adenekan, who was silent on the allegation of attempted rape, prayed the court to assist him intervene in the matter.


Ikeja Council Clerk Abducted In Ikorodu

Gunmen this morning kidnapped the Ikeja Local Government Clerk, Shamsideen Abiodun Omotayo.

According to spokesman for the local council secretariat, Bello Onilegbal, he was whisked away at Imota, Ikorodu, while on his way to work.

According to him, Omotayo’s kidnappers have contacted the council’s Head of Administration and are now asking for N20m ransom.

1.2 Million Applicants Jostle For 1,112 Nigeria Immigration Jobs

About 1.2 million applicants are presently competing to clinch 1,112 job openings to be filled by the Nigeria Immigration Service, Premium Times exclusively reports.

The paper had on Monday reported that the Service is recruiting 1,112 officers in its ongoing recruitment drive, according to its Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with the news house on Monday, the Immigration boss said the service has received 1.2 million applications through its portal.

The ongoing recruitment exercise, which was announced in May 2017, is for three cadres of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (II), Immigration Assistant (III) and Assistant Inspector of Immigration.


The Immigration comptroller general said the current recruitment drive is meant to fill the shortfall of slots left after the service had absorbed 888 of 2,000 officers engaged in May 2015.

Mr. Babandede said the computerised application system will prune down the number of applicants based on unmet criteria.

He said all those who have not met age or educational qualifications for the applied posts will be automatically disqualified by the system.

The recruitment exercise is the first since 2014 when a similar exercise was mired by controversy following a stampede that killed many applicants, including seven in Abuja. capital.

Former Bauchi Deputy Governor Dies In Indian

A former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Garba Muhammad-Gadi, has died in India. Muhammad-Gadi died in an India hospital on Tuesday aged 70, a closed relative was quoted to have said.

He further said, “the people have not lost faith in us, they understand that the task of clearing decades of debris will take time but we must also jointly keep faith with them. “The people expect us to deliver on all of what we have promised. They expect a better life, we have assured them of a better life, and I can say for all of us who are present here, all of us in the progressive forum, that we will deliver a better life to the people of Nigeria.
