Coming after the picture of a 13 years-old
teenager in Ghana, who traded her body to cater for her unborn child went viral,
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has revealed that all is being done by
her foundation to make sure she is well catered before and after
delivery.
In an earlier post, the actress called out to her colleagues in Ghana to help locate the teenager.
“Glory
be to God. We found Afia the pregnant teenager who we posted about few
days ago. We are super grateful to the public/Media, for bringing her
case to our notice. Recently becoming a mom Afia’s case hit too close to
home. These are a few things we would be doing for Afia.“The
Tonto Dikeh Foundation will make sure the young girl gets her life back:
by giving her a new home, taking care of the hospital bills, taking
care of antenatal and postnatal for five month, we will be creating a
salary plan till she can be able to work, we will be employing a
psychologist to work on her(Rehabilitate her), and of course set out an
economic empowerment plan that will sustain her and the unborn child.“And
as we all know education is very important, we shall try our best to
make Afia go back to school. Our foundation shall be working in
collaboration with the St John’s Hospital and fertility centre,
Multimedia group, the biggest media and television company in Ghana and
of course Honourable Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye MP Effiduase-Asokore
constituency. We are using this opportunity to encourage well meaning
Ghanaians and Africans to come on board in any means possible to make
this a reality,” she posted.
Tonto Dikeh, in partnership with
other organisations, has been using her Foundation, to help people in
rural areas get quality health care and education.
