The campaign against Domestic Violence which was organised by
the wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi might have been
concluded in Lagos but some participants have chosen to make imprints in
the minds of women who are in abusive relationships.
Titled, “Stop The Domestic Violence Against Women,” the peaceful walk
which had hundreds of women in attendance became a rallying point for
women who had been violated and needed to speak out.
When asked by journalists what her advice was for women whose husband
have turned them to punching bags or who had been attacked verbally,
seasoned actress, Sola Sobowale advised:
“Open that door and run! Be the typical African woman and shout, Egba
mi oo. Don’t cover it up! The bottom-line is don’t die in silence. Run
for your life. Run! You need your face, your leg and don’t let it be
destroyed. Run!”
The actress, who is married with grown up children, relocated to the
United Kingdom due to her kids’ education but returned to Nigeria to
resume her acting career after her children’s graduation. She has
featured in some movies among which is “The Wedding Party.”
