EX-Governor Segun Oni Joins Governorship Race In Ekiti
The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress and former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Segun Oni, has joined the Ekiti governorship race.

He would make an open declaration in July, the Director-General of the Segun Oni Campaign, Dr. Ife Arowosoge, said on Thursday at the maiden meeting of APC leaders and members from all the 16 Local Government areas working for the 2018 aspiration of the former governor.

Arowosoge, a former House of Representatives member, revealed that Oni had sent letters of his intention to vie for governor in 2018 to the party executives at the ward, local government and state levels.

According to him, Oni is joining the race based on “clarion calls” from interest groups like teachers, civil servants, local government workers, retirees, youth and women groups.

Arowosoge said, “This is the man we have chosen to work for; we are not ashamed to associate with this man of integrity and we must ensure that he wins both the primary and general election with landslide victory.

“The slogan of 16-0 against APC must not only stop, it must be reversed; it will be 16-0 against PDP.

“The political atmosphere is most favourable for our party now and the only person people are demanding of our party to give them is Chief Olusegun Oni who they are ready to vote in as governor, come 2018.”

The DG said Oni has the experience, exposure and pedigree to make a difference if given the chance to occupy the governor’s chair again describing him as “simple, plain-minded, intelligent, humble, respectful, incorruptible, responsible and God-fearing.”

During his administration (2007-2010), he provided employment for over 4,000 youth, gave autonomy to both Legislature and Judiciary; accorded traditional institution respect, gave good welfare package to civil servants and retirees, as well as provided infrastructures and other social welfare programmes.

Customers Storm Bank After Staff Flees With N1.3M Savings
A female staff of a Micro Finance Bank, Folashade Olayiwola has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly escaping with N1.3 million savings paid into the bank by some petty traders through her.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the customers besieged the bank requesting for their money which led to the arrest of Folashade by the Police. The incident happened at the Shepherd Trust Micro Finance Bank branch at Ogba, Lagos where Folashade was deployed as Staff. She has since been arraigned in court for stealing and remanded in prison custody.
It was gathered that the defendant was entrusted by the bank management to collect money as saving from their customers, mainly petty traders who save their monies in order to access loan or repaying the soft loans they borrowed from the bank.
However, it was gathered that after the defendant collected the money to the tune of N1.3 million, she failed to remit it to the bank but rather escaped with the money. When it was time to obtain the loan, the petty traders were not given loan or allowed to withdraw their savings.
The bank management, were said to have told the traders that their savings did not reflect in the bank account records despite the fact that the customers actually paid the money through the defendant.
When the management asked Folashade what happened, it was learnt that she admitted that the customers paid her the money but told the bank that she used the money to solve her personal problem.
The matter was reported at Ogba Police Command and Folashade was arrested and charged before Ogba Magistrates court with stealing under the Criminal Code. She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr T.O. Shomade granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 28 July 2017. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.

Lagos Notorious Land Grabbing Kingpin Sir K Oluwo Arrested
Efforts by the Lagos State Government to curb the activities of land grabbers popularly known as Omo onile received a massive boost on Thursday as the Special Task Force on Land Grabbing set by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode arrested one Kamorudeen Lamina, alias Sir K Oluwo, described as a notorious Omo onile kingpin, who has allegedly been terrorising the people of the state, especially residents of Ikorodu.

The Omo Onile Kingpin, who was arrested on Thursday, fell into the waiting hands of the taskforce when he was tricked out of hiding in a well-orchestrated operation carried out in the Alausa area of the state.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Special Taskforce on Land Grabbing, Jide Bakare, said his office received tons of petitions written by innocent residents deprived of their legitimate investment in landed property by the unscrupulous gang allegedly led by Mr. Lamina, said to have been a torn in the flesh of his victims.

Mr. Bakare, in a statement, said that the arrest of Sir K Oluwo by his team was a clear indication of the commitment of the Ambode-led administration to ensure that the lives and property of residents across the state was secured and protected under the law.

He said the state government had made its zero tolerance stance against land grabbing offences very clear, just as he assured that every legitimate investment made in the state would be protected by government.

Mr. Bakare further assured residents that information given by them against the nefarious activities of land grabbers will be treated with utmost confidence, a statement by Kayode Oyekanmi, assistant director of public affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, said.

According to him, the state government will immediately begin the prosecution of the arrested Omo Onile Kingpin, to serve as deterrent to others that no one is above the law in Lagos State.

While warning those in the act to steer clear of Lagos, Mr. Bakare also said the task force would intensify efforts to make the state unbearable for their nefarious activities.

Recall that earlier this year, at the commissioning of the new office of the Special Taskforce on Land Grabbing, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem, promised to go after any godfather aiding and abetting the criminal activities of the Omo Oniles in the state, saying “no matter who you are and your status, we will come after you and prosecute you”.

Niger Delta Militants Issue quit notice to Northerners again!
Despite acting President Yemi Osinbajo’s warning against hate speeches and threats from any part of the country, a coalition of Niger Delta militants has insisted on its quit notice to northerners living in the oil-rich region.

The militant groups, in a statement on Thursday, also lamented that none of the leaders of the northern groups that issued the quit notice to the people of the South-East living in the North had been arrested.

Signatories of the statement issued in Port Harcourt, who gathered under the aegis of the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators, are John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs), Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors), Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters), and Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters).

Others are Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice), Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network), Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate), and Ibinabo Tariah (Niger Delta Development Network).

The coalition said, “As a follow-up on our previous press release, a joint meeting between the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators and youth leaders across the Niger Delta region held today (Thursday) in Port Harcourt to review the state of the Nigerian nation and the position of Niger Delta in the Nigerian state. After hours of deliberation; we hereby resolve as follows:

“All northerners living in the Niger Delta have been given three-month notice to quit the Niger Delta before October 1, 2017. We still stand by our previous decisions and we demand the immediate return of the oil blocs owned by northerners to Niger Delta people.

“All oil and gas companies operating in oil bloc(s)/well(s) illegally owned by northerners should also vacate such oil blocs/wells/platforms before October 1, 2017.

“We demand an immediate relocation of the NNPC headquarters to the Niger Delta and the replacement of the Group Managing Director of the NNPC with an indigene of the Niger Delta region. All offices/boards/agencies that have anything to do with oil and gas should be relocated immediately to the Niger Delta region and all non-Niger Delta directors/staff replaced with Niger Delta indigenes.”
