A yet-to-be-identified woman was burnt
to death in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, after a diesel-laden tanker
suddenly got detached from the chasis as it was climbing a hill.

A witness told our correspondent that

The witness, who identified himself as
Yinka, said, “The tanker, which was filled with diesel, was coming from
the Eleyele area and travelling towards Ologuneru hill. The tanker had
difficulty climbing the hill.

Yinka said more than five houses were
destroyed in the fire, adding that diesel flowed towards the Eleyele
River which is about 300 meters away from the scene of the accident.

“One of the destroyed property was a
church called Save and Serve Ministry, which was just rebuilt after a
section of it was affected by the construction work on Ologuneru Road,”
he added.

It was gathered that firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service rushed to the scene of the accident to put out the fire.
Also present at the scene were men of
the Special Rescue Squad of the state police command and men of the
Federal Road Safety Corps.

The agencies reportedly worked together to remove the burnt remains of the deceased from her mangled car.
