The suspect, it was gathered, was nabbed by some men in the area who descended on him and beat him to a pulp before hanging a tire on his neck and setting him on fire, despite pleas by many to hand him over to the police since he had not actually committed the crime.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Shogunle, who is the officer
in charge of the Complaints Response Unit (CRU), at the Force
headquarters, Abuja, took to his Twitter handle to clarify that the
person that was killed was a man and not a boy, and that the corpse is
currently in the mortuary for autopsy, and investigation on how he died
is on going.
