Former Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama is questioning the biblical exhortation which states that a woman or man should not divorce their partners on any ground except adultery, even if that person is an abusive union. She wrote the message on her Instagram page as seen below:
So today on d train I get to talk with this nice lady.  She's been through so much in her bad marriage. Somehow d police gets involved and she's removed from that unsafe environment especially as children are involved. D issue now is one of d many Pastors whom she used to run to for help and prayers now tell her That" If she decides to end d abusive marry, D Bible says she is not allowed to remarry.

Ok so if that's what d bible says then she suggests that what she would have done was after he beats her, she would have waited for him to sleep then she should have tied him up and beaten him up too or done worse to him.

So I ask Did D Bible truly say one should stay In an Abusive marriage riddled with lies, cheating and adultery??? Did d bible or d People that wrote d bible not get a revelation on that? Is it fair??? If that's d case then I would probably agree on an eye for an eye. Since its not biblically? Religiously or Christianly to leave? Then when d man hits, wait and endure till he kills you then he will be forgiven or wait till he's probably asleep then strike. Abi??. ?????? #live #love #learn

Have a blessed Day Dearie ssss

  1. Guys, ever wondered all the talk about 'seeking God before marriage' and 'for better for worse' carry so much weight? It's simply cos of issues such as these! If a man or woman is prepared (for whatever reason) to separate from the spouse, he or she is not permitted to marry another until the said spouse dies. We can debate the logic or otherwise of this, but it is the Bible's prescription

    1. Why do people hide under d vow.."for better for worse" why is it dat, dats d only part Christians hold on to? There re different command n laws in d bible dat we christians no longer obey!!!! So stop using dat part of d bible to suffer in silence..m sure God won't send u to hell for divorcing an abusive husband...n if u find love n solace in another man..den go for it!! Let God be d judge..not society or what d preachers will say...

    2. I agree with anon 14:54 and totally disagree with anon 15:26.

Yes, you can leave a relationship/marriage if it's abusive but you can only remarry if your supposed partner dies. We are in the world but not of the world. PS: I'm only stating, not judging.

  2. If my partner wakes up one morning and decides to be a bastard and beat me? He better not eat my food again. Cos I am gonna put some sleeping shit in his food, strip him naked ,then tie him to a chair, tape his mouth shut, when the mofo wakes up, I am gonna drench him in warm water, you know to wake up all the nerves , processed to beat the devil out of him with pankere that has been soaked in kerosine. Obviously the marriage is over so I pack my shit and leave , then call gateman or neighbor to go release him.

    1. Lmao! You are crazy mehn! Lol

  3. One is allowed to leave an abusive marriage, but remarry while your partner is still alive? That's not scriptural.
