Nollywood actor, Kalu Ikeagwu was reportedly arrested at his home in Ogba yesterday by some security agents (HERE).
There were initial reports that the actor was kidnapped after his neighbours saw some gunmen whisk him away from his home yesterday afternoon at about 3:40pm.
However, Encomium confirms that the newly-wedded actor was actually arrested in connection with a robbery and homicide case which took place in Abuja.
According to reports, Kalu was taken to the police station for questioning as a result of a stolen phone he purchased which was connected to a robbery incident in Abuja where one of the victims was killed.
Kalu had been approached in his home by the agents and had been invited for questioning but when he began to argue with them, the men brought out their guns before taking him away in a bus. His wife and stepdaughter were reportedly left in tears.
Kalu Ikeagwu was later released and returned home around 8:30 pm and he reportedly explained to his worried neighbours that his personal assistant bought a stolen phone from Computer Village in Ikeja and the thieves reportedly killed one of the victims of the robbery.
The phone was traced to Lagos by the security agents who tracked him down since his address and name were used during the purchase.
Moral of the story: Sometimes it’s just safer to buy a new phone than a second hand one.
